Get menu updates, product updates and maybe along the way learn a few things about food and coffee that you may not have known and hopefully teach us a few. A place to find out what we do, how and why, as sometimes we are not sure ourselves!! Whether you’re just reading or visiting as well we hope you enjoy what you taste and/or read.

Massaro's Cambridge Gelato Update
We have had several requests recently about whether we are going to stock again the amazing gelato that we used to have until last year.
The truth is that we are not sure. Delisting the gelato was one of the most difficult decisions we have taken at Massaro’s and there have been a few!! The product as you all know is amazing and was one our best finds amongst many some of which have also had to go for similar reasons.
The gelato was amazing for many reasons not least that it was a very fresh product which believe us is rarely the case – but as such it means it needs quick turnover to be enjoyed at its best and unfortunately that was not the case which meant we had to waste significant amounts. As with most of our products in order to be as price competitive as possible we operate at lower than normal margins and the wastage of course erodes this further and in the end it was just not viable for us to carry on. Since we last stocked it there have been further price increases which makes the decision whether to sell it again even more difficult.
All that said we know many customers and especially very loyal ones miss it dearly and we miss having it as part of our repertoire not least because it is the only genuine gelato around despite what others may tell you. By this we mean that it is truly milk based as opposed to cream or milk with some cream in which case it is ice cream and not gelato. It is also made with the highest quality natural ingredients such as pistachios from Bronte in Sicily, hazelnuts from Piedmont and so on.
We will keep you updated as to whether we decide to have another go at offering the gelato but hope you understand that with so many real food products we have available and all at such competitive prices and real value for the quality that from a purely business point we have to balance the things that we would love to have with the harsh realities of there being a business case for having them – boring we know but unfortunately true.

Welcome Back to all and Farewell to Mike
We are opening today Thursday 24th February and we very much look forward to seeing all our lovely customers again we have missed you.
Also a sad farewell to one of our best customers or more accurately friend who after over a year of coming to Massaro’s has just made the long trip back to Australia. Mike we are pleased to say popped in a few days ago to say his goodbyes and we will very much miss his visits to Massaro’s. Mike loved his coffee and his knowledge on the subject and appreciation of what Massaro’s is about was a regular lift for us on days when we needed one. Also as we don’t get out much from the shop it was great to get regular updates of all our favourite specialist coffee shops in London which Mike luckily got to visit more often than we do. Good luck Mike with your plans in Australia. Anyone who knew Mike from meeting him at Massaro’s please feel free to leave a comment here.
So, we have been busy revamping the place and by the time you read this you would have probably seen the changes. We hope you like and also there have been developments on the menu front. There are more to come and whilst we will never be the cheapest place in town we will always have what we believe in - being real food and coffee, produced, roasted, grown or reared by people who care about their product and how it affects other people, animals and the environment and we will strive to offer this in the best value way as possible. Those of you who have got to know us over the last few years will know that we cannot do things any other way and that these strong beliefs on food and coffee production are core to why we do what we do but equally important is that our customers are enjoying it and that if nothing else you are tasting the difference.
Our record on keeping blogs up to date has been well let’s just say very dubious but we hope to keep this one going and as much as being a way of keeping up to date with what we offer it will also hopefully be a place for anyone to find out more about the wider issues of food and its production as well as other places to check out as we love to shout out about and share other great places we love.

New Blog Site for Massaro's Cambridge
Cheekycento is still about but has decided not to blog anymore – after all she is a car so she has handed over after over 2 years of no blogging to us in the hope we will blog more – we’ll see.
What a time to start a new blog – cheekycento blogged about our impending opening over 2 years ago –yes that long!! Now as I am sure many have noticed we have been closed for the last 2 weeks and a blog appears again but this time we hope to keep it going even when we re open which we hope will be soon. Why we closed remains a story for another day – why we have started another blog is simple – we need to get more information out about what we do, how and why and there is only so much space in the shop. So we hope and will try our hardest to keep this blog up to date. It will feature menus as well as our thoughts on the wonderful and truly enlightening world of real food and coffee.
That’s it for now but we hope much more to come soon and we look forward to serving all our lovely regulars very soon
Bye for now
